On Tuesday August 21, 2007 at the Club Council Meeting, Chris Smith was awarded ATSC Coach of the Year and Andy Megas was awarded ATSC Volunteer of the Year. Chris and Andy have been dedicated to ATSC and we were pleased to present their awards.
Chris Smith is the head coach of the U11 Girls age group and also coached the Intensity Red last season. He is a dedicated coach and also volunteers his time outside of coaching. He is currently the Girl’s Coach Representative on the ATSC Board and helped with the field planning for the ASIST Tournament last spring. As a coach, he brings out the best in the girls while developing the team. He is thorough with executing his practice and game plans and has communicated his system to the parents so they are aware of what is taking place on the field. Above and beyond the call: on the Friday before the ASIST Tournament, Chris worked late into the night with a small team of people to clear the snow and ice off 2 fields that his teams were to play on the next morning. Thanks for your dedication.
Andy Megas was the ATSC President last year as well as a volunteer Coach for the Dragons. If this was not enough he was one of the driving forces behind the ASIST Tournament which grew significantly in the second year. He also organized the first ATSC Information Night for parents. In addition to working as a volunteer for ATSC, he volunteers on the recreation side as the manager of the Civitans Club in ASA. He started and ran the Player Development Clinics for ASA players. Andy continues to volunteer his time as he is the assitant coach for the U9 Boys Travel teams and is still the ASIST Tournament Chair. Thanks for everything.
