Fusion Earn Win #4
The boys earned their 4th straight win against the FCSC Fusion on Saturday. 6 different players found the back of the net as the team won 8-1. The score could have been run up even more, but we began to rest our HS players for the Sunday match and finished the game with 7 players on the field. Goals were scored by Chris (2), Danny (2), Sean, Matt, Pepi, and Daniel. Solid performances from leaders such as Mason helped keep the intensity up. The game got a bit chippy at times with Arthur and Pepi taking hard knocks. Danny played in the goal in the 2nd half so that Alex could get some time on the field.

Fusion Stop Avalanche, 2-0
Sunday saw the boys earn the 2nd win of the weekend as they defeated the FASA Avalanche 2-0 on the road. Goals were scored by Sean and Danny. As expected, the game was extremely physical and saw Mason and Freddy both earn Yellow Cards. Key defensive saves from Alex, Colin and Matt helped the boys earn 15 points for the Spring season and sit at the top of Division 5.
Here the boys defend the corner.....

Sunday saw the team pull the win out against the Pythons. An excellent goal from Freddy, assisted by John put the guys up 1-0 going into the half. The game was a physical one and saw the boys really hammering into each other. Danny earned the second goal with 4 minutes left to put it out of reach. This was important as the officiating was poor and he didn’t earn a clear trip in the box, earlier. Alex kept the clean sheet in the goal and Chris played a great game at center back. Arthur and George were out for the game due to injuries they received. Mason and Hank ran the defensive midfielder roles with some 2nd half help from Pepi.
Overall a great win!

Fusion Earns Draw With McLean Focus
George Battles For Position
The boys worked hard tonight to earn a point against the McLean Focus. A late game goal from Freddy allowed the boys finish 1-1. The Fusion worked tremendously hard against a very good team whose goalkeeping kept them in the match. While missing a couple key players, others stepped up to help carry the team. Fitz ran the center back in the 2nd half as Pepi and Hank kept the attack alive. Great games were had by Kevin R and Colin. Danny had multiple opportunities and was denied the back of the net. John helped bring the attack alive after running the back for the first part of the half. Soufan and Kevin G helped give valuable minutes off of the bench.
The guys keep their place at the top of the table going into the last 2 weeks of league play.
The boys earned a gritty win against a tough SSA Hawks team on Sunday at Yorktown HS in a near constant downpour. The first half of the game had the boys tied 0-0. With 3 strikers up top, Danny got the ball down the wing and served it to the near post for Freddy who was able to slip it past the goalkeeper to put the team up by a goal. As the game went on, it got a bit chippy and the boys kept their composure and continued to battle. With 20 left to play, the ball pinged around through the middle and Mason was able to find Soufan who put it away. It was an all around excellent team effort to get the win and 3 points.
Freddy Celebrates After The Score!!

Soufan Going To Goal

Fusion Draw Even With Rebellion
Sunday saw the boys close out the season 1-1 with the LOUD Rebellion. Having clinched Division 5 the weekend before, all the guys played different spots. Alex came out of the goal and showed well on the field as Danny came up with big saves in the net. John ran the defense so Chris could get into the attack. Kevin G ran as outside back and midfielder and Soufan got into the midfield and attack. Daniel and Pepi and Arthur all saw minutes up top. Our score came off of a corner kick from Daniel and Chris soared up in the air to bang home the header. Colin and Fitz both had great opportunites in front of the goal. The Rebellion evened the score from a penalty kick off a questionable handball in the box.
