Eagles Blue travelled to Palisades field in Washington, DC, to face the WSC Diplomats under sunny, mid-afternoon skies. They entered the game with three players recovering from illness, and one player absent. Jonathan was called in from Eagles White to help out. Despite these challenges, Eagles Blue came away with a 4-0 victory to improve to 5-0 on the season.

The game was marked by Eagles Blue domination, as WSC had difficulty breaking through a stout defense. Despite this domination, Eagles Blue found goals hard to come by for most of the game.

Eagle Blue had taken nine shots before WSC got off their first shot at the 16-minute mark. But, the only fruit those shots bore came at the 8-minute mark after Garrett was brought down in the penalty box while driving to the goal. Mateo converted the penalty kick, putting a hard shot in the upper left corner. This was the only goal for either team in the first half.

Eagles Blue continued to control much of the play during the second half, but still struggled to convert opportunities. Nicholas made two great plays in goal at the 36-minute and 47-minute marks, and Garrett made a very nice defensive play at 37 minutes.

Finally, at 53 minutes, Ethan gathered a WSC goal kick and drove it past the goalie.

Just 45 seconds later Ethan made a nice pass to Mateo, who drove it past the keeper.

Ethan capped the scoring in the 57th minute, taking a pass from Nicholas, driving along the right side and putting a shot through the keeper’s hands.

Great defensive work held WSC to one shot on goal all day long. A good win for Eagles Blue.
